Transit or self-propelled wheelchair: which should you buy?
The difference is one you can see at a glance — the size of the back wheels — and it decides whether you can move yourself or need someone to push.
A family-run showroom in Stewartby, Bedford, since 2004. Try before you buy, have a free demonstration at home, and bring any make to us for servicing.
New and second-hand scooters, powerchairs, wheelchairs and walking aids — all checked and serviced before they go out, with free local delivery and no pressure to decide on the day.

New & second-hand scooters, from boot-size folders to road-class models.
Transit and self-propel chairs, rollators, frames and sticks.
Accredited Motability Scheme dealer
Tell us about your doorways, your kerbs, your car boot and where it will live, and we will tell you honestly what will work — and what won’t. We also supply rise & recline chairs, stairlifts, daily living aids, insurance.

You shouldn’t have to choose between the right machine, honest advice and somebody who will still answer the phone next year. Here you get all three.
Try several machines side by side in the showroom, then have the one you like brought to your door for a free demonstration. It answers the questions a showroom can’t.

Most of what we do isn’t selling. It’s the servicing, the repairs, the battery that died on a Friday and the loan scooter so somebody isn’t stuck indoors.

Richard and his dad started the business in a shed at Staples garden centre in 2004. It moved to Kempston in 2012 and is now at Broadmead Business Park in Stewartby — still the same family, and much of the same team.

We take in part exchanges all the time, so we usually have used scooters and powerchairs in — every one checked and serviced before it is sold. Stock changes constantly: ring us with roughly what you are after and what you would like to spend.

Any questions, or want to book a free home demonstration? Ring us on 01234 267393 — Mon–Fri 9:00–4:30 · Sat 9:00–12:00. Free parking at the door, step-free throughout.
Truly in love with this gang. Arranged my Motability, listened to my needs and came up with the goods. When I had problems they were on my doorstep as quickly as they could, left me with a replacement while they took mine away and fixed it.
Having just purchased our fourth scooter, this is just to state that over several years we have experienced excellent service and sales from David, Paul and other members of staff we don't see. We also experience good service for all our needs for sundries etc. We would be happy to recommend this company to anybody looking for good care and service for their mobility needs.
My husband popped in super early this morning as my electric wheelchair (purchased elsewhere) decided it wouldn't charge and we had plans today where it was needed. The two men working were amazing, they helped to get the battery back up and running again super quickly. They were very friendly and helpful and we really appreciate the help provided. Thank you. Would definitely recommend.
I've bought a couple of second-hand mobility scooters from The Mobility Centre over the years, as well as having them serviced and repaired, and the staff couldn't have been kinder or more helpful if they'd been members of my own family.
Went to the Mobility Centre with my Dad, 97 years young. He has just been told no more driving. Never looked at scooters before so it was a whole new experience. Good range and choice of scooters, all sizes and prices. The guys over there were brilliant. Spent time with us, went through everything, answered any questions. Totally recommend these guys. Brilliant service.
Our daughter was temporarily disabled and these guys loaned us a wheelchair free of charge. Now I don't know what anyone else thinks but that's what you call amazing. They are a business that sells but they have a heart. I am grateful to them and wish them every success.

How servicing works
Buying adviceThe difference is one you can see at a glance — the size of the back wheels — and it decides whether you can move yourself or need someone to push.
Buying adviceMost pages on this say “if you’re disabled you don’t pay VAT” and stop. The real rules are more particular than that, and worth knowing before you buy.
