Narrowing it down

How do I work out which one I need?

Four questions settle most of it, and none of them are about specification.

  1. Where will it live?

    A garage, a shed, a hallway or a flat. Storage and charging rule out more machines than anything else, so start here.

  2. Where will you go?

    Pavements and the local shops point to a Class 2. Roads, country lanes or real distance point to a Class 3.

  3. Does it go in a car?

    If somebody has to lift it into a boot, ask who, and how often. That narrows the list quickly.

  4. Who is lifting and steering?

    A tiller needs both hands and some shoulder strength. If that is difficult, a powerchair is usually the better answer.
